Keep in mind, is has been a long-standing tradition for shops to close on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons (& all day on Sunday). This closure, particularly mid-week, was for the purpose of allowing parents and family to attend school assemblies, sports days, school activities and functions which are often dedicated to Wednesday afternoons.
The island markets are held on a Sunday morning in this area – beside the Bicentennial complex as well as the Farmers Market on a Saturday morning.
