Ball Bay in Norfolk Island
If you choose to stay in the Ball Bay area, you will find spectacular ocean views with dynamic, unusual cliff formations.
The curved bay is shaped like a crescent and is lined with black boulders; remnants of a volcanic cone breached by the sea.
When the swell is good, you may find our local surfers catching the waves rolling in on the right-hand side of the bay.
There is a picnic table where you can enjoy a packed lunch and watch the many sea birds that circling above. You may see a large group of white-capped noddies (sea birds) actively swooping upon the waves as they chase a school of ocean fish back and forth around the bay.
Ball Bay is located on the south-eastern side of Norfolk Island featuring magnificent sunrises at all times of the year… especially enjoyable if you are naturally a ‘morning person’!
